HOW LONG DOES THE SESSION LAST?
Newborn sessions generally last 2-3 hours. I begin each session with the newborn's individual images, and then, if you choose, I will photograph the newborn with siblings and/or family. Dad or another relatives can bring the older children later in the session or they can relax in my waiting area (with an accompanied adult) where I have a TV, Disney+, Snacks and toys!
WHERE WILL THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?
All newborn sessions take place at my cozy studio in Lake in the Hills, IL. Here I have everything we need for your session, including the beautiful outfits that you see and love in my photos. With a studio space and light that I know so well, we can guarantee consistent results for your photos, which is so important because you can’t get this time back!
DO YOU USE PROPS?
In keeping with my darker bold style, I stock a variety of simple props that add to the photos without taking the focus off of baby. These include outfits, bonnets, headbands, hats, wraps, baskets, bowls, buckets, little stuffed animals, etc. To keep the germ levels low in my newborn studio and for the safety of the baby, I do not allow any outfits/props outside of my studio collection.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE MY BABY’S SAFETY DURING A NEWBORN SESSION?
Keeping your baby safe is my #1 priority during a session! Because of that, I have taken several classes over the last 10+ years I've been in business in newborn safety and newborn posing. I am newborn/child/adult CPR certified and up to date on all required vaccinations. I have 5 1/2 years of previous experience working at Sherman Hospital taking pictures of newborns as well. I'm a mom like you; I have 5 beautiful children and know a mother's concerns of newborn safety first hand.
Finally, since babies are just learning to regulate their own body temperatures, I keep the studio at a cozy 78-81 degrees. We may be “glistening,” but baby is warm and comfy! With that in mind, please bring a light weight shirt for you to wear during the first part of the session.
